What Kind of Motorcycle Did Fonzie Ride?

1. Fonzie’s motorcycle

Fonzie’s motorcycle was a Harley-Davidson Sportster. He rode it on the television show Happy Days.

2. The Fonz’s motorcycle

Fonzie’s motorcycle on the hit show “Happy Days” was a Harley-Davidson Sportster. This particular model was only made for one year, between 1970 and 1971.

3. Fonzie’s bike

Fonzie’s bike in the TV series was a Harley-Davidson 75 Valkyrie. It had a red and silver gasoline tank, and the words “Fine Line” were printed on the side of it in white letters.

He rode a few different motorcycles during the show’s run, but his most iconic ride was a 1948 Harley-Davidson WRTT Knucklehead. The bike was stolen from the set in 1977 and was never seen again, but a replica was built in 2002 and can now be seen at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

6. The Fonz’s motorcycles

Fonzie’s motorcycles changed over the years.

In season 1, he rode a Triumph Trophy TR6 which had been customized with a “cowhorn” handlebar. This motorcycle was stolen by Arthur “The Flig” Fligoris in the episode “A Date with Fonzie.”

In season 2, he rode a black 1950 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide.

In season 3, he briefly rode a crimson Yamaha 250 cc two-stroke twin which was used in one episode to set a world motorcycle-jumping record of 52 cars. Yamaha supplied two identical bikes for the show; one for jumping and one for closeups. The record still stands.

In seasons 4–11, he rode another black 1950 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide, this one with an extended forks (known as a “bob job”).

7. Fonzie’s bikes

Fonzie’s first bike was a red 1950 Triumph Thunderbird 6T. He later upgraded to a bigger bike, a green 1952 Triumph Trophy TR5.

8. The Fonz’s bikes

Fonzie’s main bike was a Victory V92C, a 1,208 cc (73.8 cu in) cruiser made by Victory Motorcycles, then a subsidiary of Polaris Industries. The V92C was introduced in 1997 and named by Victory “World Cruiser of the Year” in its debut year.

Fonzie’s bike was mostly stock, with the exception of some personalization including a multicompartment “saddlebag” and two large mirrors not included on the production model. In one episode, Fonzie is seen removing the saddlebag, but it is back on the bike later in the episode. In another episode set during Christmas, Fonzie hangs a small wreath from his left handlebar.

Fonzie’s motorcycle on the TV show “Happy Days” was a Harley-Davidson Sportster. The Sportster is a line of motorcycles produced by Harley-Davidson since 1957.
